synopsis
It's the dry season and it's hot in Ana de Jesús's
kitchen. She's the cook at Hato Pinero, an isolated ranch in Los
Llanos, the wide plains of the Orinoco valley. The river is at its
lowest and the jungle is dry as a bone. As she cooks and cleans
she tells stories provoked by the memory of water; extraordinary
tales of instinct and survival that are part of life and death in
this wilderness.
