synopsis
Rupert Spira is one of Britain's finest studio potters.
The film takes its title from one of his tall bowls inscribed with
a long, fragmented, meditative poem. Commissioned by the Robert and Lisa Sainsbury Charitable Trust, RIVER OF WORDS is
a contemplative film, giving a glimpse into Rupert's daily working
practice. It accompanies his 2003 exhibitions in Japan, his 2004 exhibition at the
Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts and his April 2005 exhibition at
Contemporary Applied Arts in London.
award
RIVER OF WORDS was awarded the UNESCO PRIX ARGILE at the Montpelier
International Film Festival of Clay and Glass 2006. |
